Hour of Code Offers One-Hour Coding Tutorials

Hour of Code Offers One-Hour Coding Tutorials

To celebrate Computer Science Education Week, book an Hour of Code for you and your peers.

The Hour of Code is offering one-hour coding tutorials beginning today through Dec. 11 in honor of Computer Science Education week which ends Dec. 9. You can host an Hour of Code at any time throughout the year at your school, at an extracurricular, at a non-profit, or at work.

By visiting the Hour of Code website and reviewing its tutorials, you can pick which tutorial you want and pick which hour you want the event to occur. There are various options for every age and experience level, from kindergarten and up. Options include Star Wars and Minecraft tutorials, which are recommended for high schoolers, Angry Birds and Frozen tutorials, which are recommended for beginners, and JavaScript tutorials for more experienced coders.

Only 35% of U.S. high schools teach computer science classes, according to code.org. On the contrary,  90% of parents want their child to study this field. Hour of Code is designed to demystify coding and to give anyone the opportunity to learn the basics. It aims to get more people participating in computer science and to show that its something anyone can learn.

You can host your own Hour of Code event at any time, year-round. To book, visit the Hour of Code website.
