Maybe you've seen them on PBS or YouTube. Mommy Time
Being a parent is fulfilling, but it can often be lonely. What better way to spend part of your day than meeting others who may feel the same way? The last Thursday of every month, Mom's Club of Brookhaven meets for playgroups, field trips, and more so that moms can have quality time not only with their kids but with other moms, too. This month's meeting: August 25 at 11:30am. $25 yearly membership fee. Lake Ronkonkoma VFW Hall, 55 Lake Shore Road, Lake Ronkonkoma.
Silly Silent
Between movie theaters, car theaters, and home theaters, your kids have probably seen current films many times over. If you're looking to have them see something a little different, take them to Anything but Silent: Classics from the Silent Age of Film, with live accompaniment by Ben Model on the cinema's Miditzer theater organ. Model has been playing piano and organ for silents at the Museum of Modern Art in Manhattan for the past 27 years. This month, he'll be accompanying Harold Lloyd in The Freshman, a 1925 comedy about a young man who joins his college football team in hopes of becoming popular. August 25 at 7:30pm. $13. Cinema Arts Centre, 423 Park Avenue, Huntington; 631-423-7611.
