Chelsea Chew 2019 Kicks Off This September with a Delicious Way to Support Local Restaurants

Restaurants and businesses in the Chelsea neighborhood will offer special promotions and deals for diners through September 30.

If you and the kids are craving a way to give back and eat well this fall, you might want to check out Chelsea Chew 2019. The initiative is headed by Greenwich Village Chelsea Chamber of Commerce (GVCCC) along with various Chelsea businesses and restaurants, and will support local restaurants and businesses by offering delicious and diverse food options to customers at exclusive prices, with the potential to win prizes. Chelsea Chew will run from September 1-30.

GVCCC has served for over 68 years as the leading voice of business in communities such as Greenwich Village, Chelsea, SoHo, NoHo, Union Square, and the East Village with their mission to provide innovative and effective programs or services to support businesses throughout these areas, according to its website. This year, GVCCC is bringing Chelsea Chew to life for the first time ever.

Here’s how it will work: Throughout the month of September, community members can visit participating businesses and express that they would like to try the Chelsea Chew deal by showing employees the website on their phone or a postcard which is being distributed to area residents. Each restaurant is customizing its promotional offer to best fit its menu. This will give hungry food-goers exclusive deals at all participating restaurants, and give them the chance to be entered into a raffle to win over a week’s worth of dining experiences if they leave their email with the participating vendor.

The biggest sponsor of Chelsea Chew 2019, enclosed urban food court Chelsea Market, will promote the event throughout its entire space with many of its eateries on board. Other sponsors of the event include Feroce Ristorante, Lyft, and New York University, plus participating businesses such as Berlin Currywurst, Big Moxx, Black Barn Café, Buon’Italia, Philippe, The Melt Shop, and more.

“This is the first year of Chelsea Chew and we’re thrilled to have dozens of area businesses participating,” said Maria Diaz, Executive Director of GVCCC. “Our goal is to help the community thrive and that starts by supporting the restaurants and businesses that serve our residents and visitors. Chelsea Chew has already been met with excitement and we look forward to making this an annual celebration.”
