Twin Parks Montessori School to Open Center for Infants and Toddlers

Twin Parks Montessori School to Open Center for Infants and Toddlers

Twin Parks, the largest accredited Montessori program in Manhattan, will be offering a new program for infants, toddlers, and their caregivers at their Riverside location in early October.

The Nurture Center comes as a response to the growing demand for more parent education. Caregivers will be able to attend the program with their young children and learn about child development and developmentally appropriate activities they can practice at home. The program will consist of 6 weekly 90-minute classes focusing on topics such as nutrition, speech, sensory development, and gross and fine motor skills.

In addition to spurring the development of young ones, The Nurture Center also strives to provide networking opportunities for new parents, especially those who have just moved to the area and lack a support system. Three 90-minute parent discussion groups will be conducted online over the 6 week program. Discussion sessions will allow caregivers to focus on their children in class while having the opportunity to have more in depth discussions with the teacher and other group members outside.

Dr. Kathy Roemer, the executive director, stresses that the program is “open to dads, moms, grandparents, and also nannies or other caregivers,” and that, while the program is geared toward the development of very young children, caregiviers will “get as much for themselves as they do parent education about their child.”

The Nurture Center is located at 202 Riverside Drive in Manhattan.  For more information call 212-665-1600, email [email protected], or visit thenurturecenter.nyc.
