This is What Moms Want for Mother’s Day in Quarantine

We asked some of our favorite influencers what they really want for Mother's Day this year despite being in quarantine.

A few months ago we asked some of our favorite influencers what they really wanted for Mother’s Day. But before we could publish their answers, the world entered a global pandemic. Things changed very quickly—including not only what was possible, but also everyone’s needs and desires. So we asked them again, what do you really want and how do you want to celebrate Mother’s Day in quarantine? Here are both responses.

Mother’s Day Wish Before Quarantine

“I want my husband to become the art teacher and the music teacher, and work with my kids—well in advance—to come up with a song or dance show and a useful craft project that I can treasure forever. I've always worked hard to come up with something clever on Father's Day, and I'd love to see that same level of planning.”

“Now that schools are closed, dads really need to step up their game and plan something! There is no cute craft project that will magically arrive. Also, the family needs to get that all mom really wants is peace. Drop the brunch at the bedroom door. Leave the craft project on her nightstand and let her be alone. We want to wake up whenever we want, eat in bed or workout or journal or watch TV. We want to be alone, to breathe, to function for ourselves.”

“Appreciation. And dark chocolate. Oh—and a massage, and to be left alone, and maybe a pony—if someone else would take care of it.”

“Same as above. Also, I really miss massages.”

Mother’s Day Wish Before Quarantine

“Honestly, what I really want for Mother’s Day is to sleep in, go to a yoga class, and have an incredible brunch with my family minus my children fighting or arguing or whining about something.”

“What I really want for Mother’s Day is to sleep in, I’d love it if my family would whip up an incredible breakfast and give me a break from kitchen duties, and I hope the sun is shining so we can venture outdoors for a nice walk altogether!”

Mother’s Day Wish Before Quarantine

“When I was younger, we were super creative when it came to Mother’s Day. We would either create a skit, a restaurant with a menu and decor, putting on a circus show or dance show. There was always entertainment for our mom, and we would spend hours putting it all together on our own. I love the idea of my kids spending hours (without my guided help) thinking of something creative on their own—and without conflict. That would bring a huge smile to my face.”

“I’d like to be left alone. One day where no one screams my name from across the house.”

Mother’s Day Wish Before Quarantine

“I would love to enjoy a nice close-to-home staycation with my family. Just to enjoy waking up together without thinking about making breakfast, dishes, the clean-up to come or from the night before would be ahhhmazing.”

“This Mother’s Day wish is to enjoy a sunny day in the yard gardening, and eating takeout with my family...I’m still over the cooking.”

Mother’s Day Wish Before Quarantine

“What I really want for Mother's Day is a morning all to myself. I would love to wake up when I please with zero responsibilities. My third is due a week later, so it will be my last opportunity for quite some time!”

Mother’s Day Wish During Quarantine

"With all that has been going on lately, all I want for Mother's Day is to have a morning to myself. I would love to sleep in and indulge in some self-care time. Expecting my third baby during a pandemic has made that 'me time' even more precious especially as it releases anxiety about the unknown that we are all facing."
