Good Shepherd is the leading Christian preschool in the Plainview, NY area providing a range of fully licensed year-round, school year and summer camp programs for children aged six weeks through five years. Specific early childhood educational offerings include infant day care, toddler programs, nursery, and prekindergarten classes.
As a Lutheran school, we welcome children and families of all faiths and backgrounds. We strive to create a safe, inspiring environment for education and growth while encouraging the development of a positive self-concept for each child. We know that where your child begins their development outside of the home environment makes all the difference in shaping their future and this is not a responsibility that we take lightly.
The school began in 1956 as a ministry of the Church of the Good Shepherd. The school is chartered by the N.Y. State Department of Education, licensed by the N.Y. State Department of Children & Family Services, recognized as a School of Excellence by the Evangelical Lutheran Education Association, and is a member of a variety of regional and national education associations.
Located on five acres, our campus includes the school building with spacious classrooms, gymnasium, and library, a large fenced-in playground set away from the road, the church, and meeting cottages. We are fully air-conditioned. These facilities provide a safe, spacious, and attractive setting for the children.
Good Shepherd Lutheran School does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, national or ethnic origin in the administration of its educational policies, admission policies or other school administered programs. It grants to all students all rights, privileges, programs and activities generally accorded or made available to all other students at the school.
